One Income Families

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

If you are a one income family or you would like to become one, here is a whole list of articles to help and encourage you. Just copy and paste to your address bar.

I am going to learn how to make a link, (thanks to Karen!) soon, I promise. I have been printing all of the computer hints and tips from the Cooking forum, but haven't had time to learn them yet.

Here it is: http://www.stretcher.com/menu/1income.htm

Computer tip, go to help at the toolbar, click it open and locate tip of the day, click on it and tips will appear on about 10% of your screen.

Thank-you Melissa and Sherri. Visited the web site and it is very interesting.

Must just be my mood or sense of humor, but when I read "If you are a one income family or you would like to become one," I couldn't help but think of divorce as a way. It'll turn a two income family into two one income families in a hurry. I'm certainly not encouraging or advocating that. It just struck me somehow.

Ha Ha! Gary, not what I meant for sure. I certaily don't advocate divorce to SAVE money. Seems like it is usually in the reverse...

Then you haven't met a shopaholic spouse. I know of several cases where people would be a LOT better off financially if they lost the spouse!

Hello Melissa, Melitza and I have found it WAS cheaper for only one of us to work! After figuring cost of transportation, insurance, clothes, day care, lunches, and miscellenous, it was actually costing more for Meli to work than to stay at home.

At home, she of course take care of our daughter, cooks all the meals from stratch, and has plenty of time to make quilts, soap, and crafts. She sells her soap on Ebay if she needs money for Christmas presents and such.

We no longer need the extra vehicle or the extra expenses of keeping it up plus the additional cost of insurance, regristration, taxes, plates, etc. That saves us a bundle of cash.

I think that we live better this way and our child ALWAYS have someone watching her that we can trust....mommy!

Sincerely,

Ernest
