Goat Forum

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hi just a question born of curiosity. I see many posts on this forum relating to goats. And I see that there are many knowledgeable people out there who answer them. Is there a forum devoted to goats? They are obviously very popular and useful I am surpised that I haven't seen any one mention a forum like this. I do not have goats but admire them a lot and notice that here in Oregon they are used quite a lot for packing in the back country as well as the other more common uses(and of course for pets!) Useful and pretty, what more could you ask? lOL LQ

Hi,

yep, there is a new one that is on Lusnet, here is the link; http://hv.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a.tcl?topic=Dairygoats Also try the goat shed at msn communities, we're a friendly bunch:):) NNot a spolitical as others. Also, homedairygoats@yahoogroups.com is another good list, lots of great information. hope this helps.

That's good to know, Bernice. Thanks!! I very seldom "cruise" the other Lusenet forums...never seem to have the time. But I'll definitely check it out!!

Thanks Bernice, now why don't I see you nice helpful goat people telling beginners about these forums? I would think they would be valuable and chock full of great people. It is no secret that I try and get poultry people to a forum which is dedicated to the species they are asking about, and love to see people discover a place where they can "hang out" with others with the same problems and joys. Glad to hear of the new goat forum, I think it must be popular. Thanks for the info. LQ

There is a much bigger sea of goat knowledge in several yahoogroups. To find a group specific to your breed of goat, go to www.cybergoat.com We are a member of NubianTalk with over 1000 members. There is also an excellent site for emergency goat care www.goatworld.com/911 This forum is generally good and there are a few people here that have valuable advice, but a specific goat group can provide a much broader scope of insight. There is even a yahoo group devoted to pack goats!

Here is the link, we are a;ways glad to have more goat friends there! Dairygoats

I am on the Yahoo groups also, but they are not as user friendly IMHO as these Lusenet forums. Also, some of the groups have snoobby people who like to act like you don't exist. This means that you can ask a question and it is totally and completely ignored even though a lot of other people could contribute their years of knowledge...So while the Dairygoats forum may be smaller, I think it is a LOT friendlier, and the best way to add to the expertise and knowledge level of the forum is to join it! So come on over and visit with us!
