greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Looking for good sugar-free pie recipes. Particularly, Rasberry pie, my favorite... Would perfer to have recipes that have all natural ingredients with diabetics in mind. I don't care for sugar-sub's. Thanks!

Leah, have you heard of Stevia? It's an herbal sweetner, you can replace sugar with it. My son is a diabetic, and he uses it in his drinks, but I haven't tried cooking with it.

My uses Splenda instead of sugar. It is made from sugar and tastes like surgar but is safe for diabetics to use. Most supermarkets have it. We have found Wal-Mart to be the cheapest place to buy it.

You would have to experiment a little because my wife says she generally needs less Splenda than she would surgar.

Ki-Sweet made from kiwi fruit can be found on the internet. It is the best sugar substitute. 1/16 of a teaspoon is equal to a teaspoon of sugar. Bakes with wonderfully.
