Do you have a scope and sequence figured out yet? What subjects do you want to offer to K-1st grade? When do you want to introduce cursive? Some believe that K is the grade to start in. They don't even teach them printing anymore. Boy do I think that is a mistake!! We will end up with a generation who can't fill out form, when it say PLEASE PRINT. I would be willing to offer any help I can. I am a homeschool mom/teacher. I love my job! We use ABEKA, but for the mainstreem it may be a little fast/difficult. Let me know what I can do to help.

One thing that we discovered in our many years of homeschooling was that our kids learned the best lessons by not having things so structured....if you try to go at homeschooling in the same manner that lessons are taught in "regular" school, sometimes you defeat your own purpose.

Our kids learned the most on special projects which they did their own rough outline (which was looked over by mom and dad) and then worked through it their own way. This can even be accomplished with even the youngest students.

My son was awarded the top junior high school science award for having the highest science score one year on testing....and he had done basically all his science lessons in the independent manner.

I also would be willing to help. We are a science oriented homeschool, and although I dont have a teaching degree, I do have a degree. We spend many hours doing expeirments, and though provoking exercises. Have lots to share and would be thrilled to do so. Just let me know what you want, and Im there. kristean

What curriculum are you planning to use? It looks like a neat set- up. I just glanced through it, but the idea sounds feasible. I have a degree in Elem. Ed. and a lot of extra hours in Math and Science. Might be able to help out if there is a set curriculum or some criteria set. The teachers and/or Moms and Dads that help to put this thing together will have to be on the same wavelength or it will not be consistent. Just a few thoughts....choose the books or units that you want to cover for each grade level and then each teacher can break that up into lessons. I could see doing a couple of grade levels in Math, but that is going to be a lot of work to transfer it all down into the form that it needs to be in. Let me know if you need me. My choice is Math if someone else likes Science. Let me know......

Sure, would love to help. I am a licensed teacher in the area of special education and have lots of information. I even write the alternate assesment portfolios.
