Barm Beams available near Akron Ohio

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I read the description shown below in a newsgroup. Of course they are about 7 hours from us!!

If anyone is seriously interested (they surely won't be cheap) E-mail me and I will forward your e-mail to them.

"What I'm doing is trying to find people that want/need old framing timbers that were used in making barns.

These timbers range from 8"x8" to 14"x16" and from 5' to 45' in length. Some are sawn, some are hand hewn (the larger they are the more likely they are hand hewn).

We hate to see timbers like this being cut up into flooring blanks. You just can't find trees to make some of these things these days. As an example, we have the summer beam from one barn that is 12"x14"x90' -- actually two 45' pieces that have been butted together."
