Snow wont slid off barn roof

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

The first couple of years after I built my barn the snow slid right off the roof. Now the snow will not slide even If the weather is warm for a few days. It just inches off. Does anyone have a way to restore the slip on my roof? It was painted pole barn steel when new still looks good. No rust! The pitch is 5-12 I cant stay on It to shovel It and cant get the snow off.THANKS in advance

wash your roof really well, then obtain a gallon or so depending on coverage, he'll probably have to order it from an industrial paint supplier, and spray silicone with a hudson sprayer. maybe thompsons water seal would work just to cut the friction. watch run off on the edge of the roof.

We got a snow rake that extends out 15' or so and it pulls the snow off from the ground. Bought it from Northern Tools.

Is the roof metal? How about a really good cleaning and then a coating of cooking spray?
