VCD And Playstation's VCD Player Add on

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hello,

I have a regular playstation. I purchased a add on piece called a vcd player. I have many vcd's that I have played using this add on. I just recently wanyted to make my own to view. I downloaded some movies using Morpheus, they are in an mpeg1 format already. I also Downloaded a program called vcd easy. I used it to convert it to video-cd to play in my machine. It seemed to work. However I found that the video will play, but audio will not play, but I can play them using power dvd on my pc and I get sound.

Anybody have any info to offer?

Thanks

The only thing I can think of is that maybe the audio is at 48 KHz instead of 44 KHz. Get TMPGenc (www.tmpgenc.com), demux the MPEG-1 original file into separate audio and video files and play the audio file with Winamp. Winamp will tell you if it's at 44 or 48 KHz. The PC wouldn't care if the audio was 48 KHz, but your add on player might care a lot. If the audio is 44 KHz, you might try using a different type of media. Try burning to CD-RW and if that plays better, your add on doesn't like your CD-R media.

You can find such thing on some internet shops or on Ebay. I know of two brands, 'Topview' or Gamer's PSX-00x (003 is the last model). Check here, for instance http://www.gamestech.com/playstation/playstation.htm#Card%20and% 20Cable

You need a PSX with a parallel port (NOT scph 900x or PsONE). There is also a model for PsONE that requires wire soldiering.
