Does Nutri-Drench spoil?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dairygoats : One Thread

Hi, I was wondering if anybody out there could tell me if Nutri-Drench spoils or loses potency.I still have half a bottle from last Marches kidding and was wondering if I should toss it and get a new bottle for this years.Haven't had to use it much, just used it for one dose for each kid and a couple for the mom when she kidded.

I like to use it in my lambar to boost the milk. Can't really see how it could go bad as long as it didn't freeze or get hot out in the barn, and was kept out of sunlight. My babies think I am trying to poison them, if I give it to them by mouth! Vicki

Thanks Vicki.Good to know.Although last years kids were really healthy without it, they were the only kids I had ever been around. Am a little concerned because Cookie is so big with still 1 month to go.All other does served by this buck have produced triplets or quads.have no midwife experiance so have been looking at all the sites I can find, and there are some really good ones.Wish us luck!

Hello other Vicki :) I also have a doe named Cookie! She is due in March, looking forward to her having a doe kid for me, she had 2 sets of doelings before I purchased her and so far 3 sets of all bucks. : ( We have found that the does are the ones who pass on the gene for multiples, especially quads. We have lines who carry quads, fed the same thing in the same pen, serviced by the same buck, we only get triplets out of other lines. Usually a doe out of a quad will have quads by her 3rd freshening. Has anyone else had this experience or any other? Vicki

Hi Vicki! Named my girl Cookie as she is black at both ends and white in the middle. Oreo was just too hard to say!Have no idea what her line did kid wise, people I bought her from had bought her from someone else and had found they really didn't like goats after all.She was only 3 months old and I knew almost nothing about goats but am learning. Last year I used a Nubian buck and she had twins, buck and doe.Kept the doe,are all nubian "teenagers" fairly brainless? Am hoping she'll get some smarts as she ages, guess I shouldn't have named her Dazzle!
