According to Canon Camera Museum this is a budget version offered as an option for the AV-1 as it was introduced in 1979. The size and weight is excactly the same as the 50/1,8, but it can only be stopped down to 16 while the 50/1,8 goes to 22. I have never seen this lens, and I know nothing about it's performance compared to the 50/1,8., but if I had the choice, I would go for the 50/1,8. The 50/1,8 is highly reputated for it's sharpnes. They are easy to find for a very resonable price.

I've seen the 50mm f/2.0 marketed with the T50, too. As someone else suggested, no point going for it given the low price of the 50mm f/1.8 (unless you are a collector who has to have everything!). While you are at it, in fact, the 50mm f/1.4 is a fantastic lens which is well worth the extra money if you can stretch to it; optical performance is excellent.
