**POSSIBLY SICK RABBIT?** help!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

My little dwarf rabbit started urinating non-stop and would leak all the time. This has been going on for 2 days now. She is only a year old and very healthy, no prior problems. When I picked her up and touched the butt area, she would squirt urine. The urine is not in odd odor or color. What is going on?

Help, I'm so worried, my rabbit means a lot to me.

Nikki,

There is a Rabbit Vet site that you can get answers for on your rabbits...it is on Yahoo..I am sure they can help you. In the meantime, be sure you give your rabbit a lot of liquids or it will get dehydrated. Best of luck !!

Nikki, I've never heard of that before. Is there a vet in your area that you could call? Do try to get as much liquids in her as possible in the meantime. If she doesn't act like she wants to drink, try holding her and giving her liquids with a medicine dropper. best wishes. let us know what happens. suzy

I used to work in research years ago, and this sound like diabetes, our diabetic rabbits, use to urinate a lot. We had diabetic dogs, cats, pigs and rabbits. If you really love this animal as a pet, you should take it to a vet to get check, if is diabetic, you should see other signs like eating a lot, and loosing weight. Good Luck to you. Our diabetic rabbits in the research building use to get a special diet and sometimes insulin. Bye Ralph.
