no audio on TMPGgenc

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi. I've been using TMPG for a couple weeks not to convert .avi to .mpeg and have no problems in the past. This time, I attempted to cut the file in half. As per another thread I saw here, I made sure the video and audio source were coming from the same place. I made sure the settings said video and audio. Then under settings-->advanced, I set the start and end source. Then pressed start.

What came out was a perfectly cut video, just the way I wanted, except for one thing: audio. There was no audio at all. I thought perhaps I had done it wrong and attempted it again. It didn't work. That was a waste of 4 hours.

Can anyone help me? Is there a bug or am I just doing wrong, since the original .avi definitely has both video and sound.

Thanks.

Using TMPGEnc, if you want to split a file with both Audio & Video, then you have to use the Join/Cut utility under File->MPEGS Tools. Here are the steps:

1. Select File->MPEG-Tools and press Join/Cut. 2. Select Video-CD if you want to save to a VCD compliant MPEG. 3. Add the mpeg file you want to cut 4. Doubleclick on the mpg & do your splitting 5. Select your desired Output file and hit OK.

For Joining files:

1. Select File->MPEG-Tools and press Join/Cut. 2. Select Video-CD if you want to save to a VCD compliant MPEG. 3. Add the mpeg files you want to join 4. Select your desired Output file and hit OK.
