How to prevent snow

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I'd like to announce that I have found a way to prevent snow... at least it seems that way. I'm in Northern Indiana and we do tend to get out share of the white stuff but I've personally managed to keep that from happening this year. How, you ask? It was simple, really. I went out and got a four wheel drive tractor with a front end loader and a one ton truck with an 8' power angle snow blade and a dump bed. Being this prepared for bad weather has precluded it altogether. ;o)

All kidding aside, I'm not complaining. I'd rather not have the snow than spend hours pushing it, piling it, loading it, hauling it and dumping it. I'd rather use my new toys on my land during an early spring this year. ;o)

Hey, Gary, you can come get us out!!!! Year before last, at a clearence sale, we got a couple of really good quality nice snow shovels, this is the first significant snow we've had since then!.....

I wonder where I put those shovels?

Just think, if you wouldn't have bought it, there would have been 3 feet by now. I hope you do get one nice snow, so you can "play" with your new toy!

People in Indiana should be thanking you, Gary, and sending you cash contributions!!!!

Gary's prevention isn't for the whole state, we're supposed to get possibly four inches by noon tomorrow. That's fine with me.

Gary,

I think you might have had some help in this snow prevention. I was in Angola, IN a couple of days ago, shopping, and I heard an elderly lady saying how for the first time they had bought a snow blower for their drive. Her husband had is gassed up and sitting in the garage waiting.

I finally convinced dh, for the first time in 10 years, to put snow tires on my car as I am transporting my granddaughter a lot during the winter. This has been the mildest winter we've had since I've lived in this town, I'm driving around on bare pavement most of the time, and dh is starting to do the "I told you you wouldn't need them" thing. Of course, he also said that when he didn't put snow tires on my car and we had 5 feet of snow piled up in our front yard. VBG
