I'm sure it has been done, if only by Canon. I think a more important question is how many of these lenses have actually been produced? Are any in the hands of private owners? I've only seen one advertised in the back of a photography magazine before, for $100,000. Even if the original price of 10,000,000 Yen from the Canon Camera Museum is still acurate the direct import price at today's exchange rate would be about $76,000. B&H doesn't even list them as a special order item. I know they exist, I'd just like to know if any are actually in use.

I believe the only buyers for these lenses were some press agencies and some rich sheiks. The lens is built to order by Canon, ie it is not a regular production item, and you would need to contact them directly to have one made.

Remember, of course, to add to the price the fees for the Caddy to carry it around for you, the two hefty carbon fibre tripods to support it, the doctor's fees for when your back goes, insurance, etc, etc, etc

Wonder if they'll release a (relatively) cheap DO version?

I would think the TC would work. It would still AF with an EOS 3 or 1V at the least.

I think that lens goes for somewhere in the $60000 range now (US).

does anyone know if there are any currently in use or are they just museum exhibits?
