Electronic Records Legal & Regulatory Workshop of Collaborative Electronic Notebook Systems Association (CENSA) and the Global Electronic Records Association’s (GERA): Focus on The Quality Electronic Records Practices in Government and Industry.

Purpose: To increase the dialogue, partnership, and cooperation of government and industry to develop acceptable solutions Quality Electronic Records Practices standards and implement them throughout industry and government.

Objectives:  Explain The Quality Electronic Records Practices (QERPs), the common government and industry needs for them, and their current status, and the proposed "GERA Institute for Electronic Records" to assist organizations in actually implementing the QERPs.  Explain CENSA's Legal & Regulatory Program, and GERA, their common missions, goals, deliverables as an government and industry partnership to develop eRecords standards.  Learn about NARA's mission, goals, and programs to assist federal and state agencies in establishing electronic records programs.  Introduce the Federal Information and Records Management (FIRM) Council, its mission, members, needs, and programs and how they compare to industry's current programs.  Learn about the US White House OMB’s eGovernment initiatives and how Government Paperwork Elimination Act (GPEA) is driving government to serve everyone better.

Quality Electronic Records Practices Workshop - > hosted jointly by CENSA and GERA  1:30 –2:00 PM -- Introduction and overview of goals of the workshop objectives and of afternoon workshop.- Rich Lysakowski, Executive Director, CENSA  2:00 – 2:45 PM – NARA’s eRecords goals, programs, and tools to assist its constituencies in implementing eRecords programs with Q&A - Lewis Bellardo, Deputy Archivist (invited)  2:45 – 3:15 PM – The needs for standards and assistance in eRecords programs -- Bette Fugitt & Carol Brock of the Federal Information and Records Management (FIRM) Council  3:15-3:45 PM – OMB Initiatives on eGovernment, its intent, and the expectations for GPEA as part of use of digital technologies to drive significant improvement in efficiencies, effectiveness, and service to improve IT usage and improve effectiveness and asset management. – Mark Forman or his designee from OMB.  3:45 -- 5:15 PM -- Open Discussion and Question and Answer Session: Clearly understand government and industry common needs and priorities for the QERPs, and if they are a commonly high priority to agree to design a workable path forward -- Rich Lysakowski.
