Flash AF Auxiliary Light with RebelG

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I bought a used SOLIGOR Flash TIF340 for my Canon RebelG (EOS500N). In the Shop I tried it with a Rebel2000 (EOS300). With this Body the AF-Light on the Flash worked. With my camera-body this flash AF-light does not work, but the body-built-in AF-light (which seems much brighter than the flashs AF-light) works. I thought that the body-AF light stops working when a external flash is applied.Or are both working parallel? Is there a difference concerning the AF-Light between the RebelG and the Rebel2000?

Probably you have to select the central AF sensor. Works only in L, P, Tv, Av, M modes. Michael Lehndorff
