I would like to know how I can make a Video CD that will work on a CD player (I've tried Nero, it makes Video CD 2.0 and none of my DVD Players recognize that, even though they all claim to "Play Video CDs")

I downloaded a Video CD Player for my PC and the cd works just fine...

And yes, I have read those other posts on "not all players work with CD-R", which I'm sure isn't the problem cause before I made the video CD, the CD-RW I had with all the files (AVI, MPG, and some DIVX only versions of each), registered as a Video CD on one of my DVD players that doesn't even read the Nero made Video CD (but it didn't play it...). And my other DVD player (and my ATI PC Video CD Player) both say they do not support Video CD 2.0 format)... Please help

It's still not clear whether or not your DVD player can read CD-Rs. Forget Video CD for a while and create/copy a conventional audio CD on CD-R and CD-RW. How it behaves with these will tell us exactly what it's good at. THEN we start to talk about creating VCDs. And the difference between VCD ver 1.1 and 2.0 is NOT as big as a day and night: it's simply--1.1 is straight play (no menu items; no SEGMENT directory or if there is one there are no files in it), and ver 2.0 has a menu with selections in it (THERE IS a SEGMENT directory with AT LEAST one file itemxxxx.dat in it); all legit players, h/w and s/w, are designed to cope with both, so u know something else is wrong if the concern can't play one or the other or both.

My DVD player definetely plays CD-R, I have made various audio CD's & they work fine. Also if I use my Adaptec CD creator4 'duplicate CD' function then my recorded VCD also works fine. My issue is that I had saved the .DAT file from a VCD to my hard drive thinking I shall later make a VCD & play it on my DVD player. But that did not work. I later even copied all the folders from the original VCD & the .DAT file from my hard drive, it did not play. I think it has something to do with the CD 'labelling'.

Is there any software that i can get so that i am able to edit & make one VCD with segments from various VCD's. Also if I want to compile my MPEG so that I am able to run them in my player as one VCD.

U don't just create VCD by copying files into a CD-ROM layout. VCDs are CD-ROMs themselves but follow a unique file system prescribed in White Book that amateurs like us can only adhere to ONLY IF we use a VCD-authoring program, like the VCD tab in Nero latest 5.5.6.4. Ditch Easy CD and anything that has to do with it for maximum sanity. You need one other free program VCDGear (www.vcdgear.com) to extract the avseqxx.dat files to the original *.mpg files they once were. You copy all the avseqxx.dat or musicxx.dat files onto your HDD from various VCDs. Rename them uniquely, like 01.dat. Convert them to *.mpg using dat2mpg option of VCDGear then include the resulting *.mpgs in the VCD layout in Nero and author your VCD. VCDGear is optional since Nero accepts avseqxx.dat files directly but there are options in VCDGear to fix damaged MPEG streams lifted from scratched VCDs so use it. STOP using Easy CD because u will only run around in little circles trying to figure out what went wrong. Easy CD is anything but.

Also try making the VCD onto a CD-RW, NOT on a CD-R. Some DVD players will only read the CD-RW.

My Panasonic also only reads CD-RW, not CD-R.

Another "burn" question. How do I burn a VCD, and then add new stuff (either VCD, or data - pix or slides) to the same CD later (I use Nero)
