MPEG2 on a Video CD?

Can you put video compressed with MPEG 2 compression on a standard Video CD? If so, how many minutes of MPEG2 video will a Video CD hold?

Standard VCDs cater only for MPEG-1. If you want MPEG-2 then u deal with Super Video CDs (SVCD). At the allowed total peak bitrate of 2500kb/s or so for SVCD, a 650MB CD-R will give a playing time of about 38mins. More on SVCD-from-DV-FireWire creation at www.geocities.com/aussie01au.

"Frames-Per-Second" is also another factor. I tried 4000k bitrate and 29 frames per second, it delivered 20 minutes MPEG-2 file on 650M CD.
