Do I need angle finder for portraits?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Hello. I am interested in a significant amount of portrait work. Would an angle finder be especially helpful if I'm using a tripod? I've read that it is. I will also be working with low speed black and white film so I'm wanting the best shots possible. Any advice is certainly appreciated. I have the Rebel 2000 and I'm looking at the Angle finder C. Thanks for any rep

If you wanted to keep the camera level with a seated subject, the angle finder could be usefull. Of course stooping down to look through the regular finder is cheaper. That's what most of us do.

For "a significant amount of portrait work" it might be usefull enough to get. They are more often used after in macro and copy work.

Or perhaps lining up the shot, and have the subject hold the pose while you look directly at them (i.e. not through the viewfinder). Press on the remote release when the decisive moment(s) arrive :-)

it would probably be useful if you find yourself frequently using your camera on a tripod at waist level. otherwise, you will probably find it a hassle to use.
