New Henry Field's Catalogue

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I got the new Field's catalogue today. It looks the same as usual, but since they're under new ownership (I think this was discussed here), they're offering a coupon for $20 off a $40 order. Also there are two pages of fruit trees that you can pick for free if you buy any other fruit tree (i.e, you can mix varieties). Worth looking into.

I got Field's and Gurneys this week. Gurneys had the same offer but my copy of fields did not. Maybe because last year I did not order from Gurneys?

Could you please give us a contact number to get these catalogs? My first goat demolished a couple trees and the bucks chewed almost all the lower bark off our only producing pear tree, so maybe now's the time to replace them! Thank you.

Cara, their e-mail addresses are www.henryfields.com and www.gurneys.com

Hope this helps!

Hope this isn't a completely stupid question, but is Field's the same company as Gurney's? Their web sites are almost exactly the same. I asked for catalogs from both anyway, so hopefully I'll get the great deal offer that you all did! Thanks for the info.

Cara, They were owned by the same company at one time. Not sure if they still are. Happy gardening!

I ordered from Henry Fields (when they were owned last year by another company) and never got my product. My check went uncashed. When the new owners of the company took it over THEY CASHED MY CHECK knowing full well it was not sent to them when they owned the company.

They waited months before replying to any of my emails and letters and then sent me a form letter saying I could either get a refund or twice the amount of the refund in free items. I opted for the refund. That was 12/04/01 and I recently emailed them again (from their website) concerning my refund.

Now they are trying to get out of the entire thing by telling me I can have the exact amount of the refund in free items (not twice the amount) and no mention of the refund part.

I am VERY DISPLEASED with them and will never attempt to order from them in the future. I am continuing to do battle to get my money refunded.

All they had to do was NOT cash the darn check in the first place and all would be well!!!!

That's just my 2 cents worth!!!!

Cara, Curry the buck and, since the tree's a goner anyway, try bridge-grafting the pear; cut some whips off it and splice them into sound bark above and below the damage. You've nothing to lose and it's good practice. Warning, though; it's addictive! After your first success you will find yourself grafting everything in sight, and they won't let you on airplanes anymore because you won't give up your grafting knife. David in OR.
