I prefer garage sales and thrifts, and my little corner grocery store's loss leader sales.

Other than my garage sale treasures, if it's not online, I don't buy it. Food is the only exception because of shipping charges. If I could buy groceries online with no shipping I'd do it. Can't tell you the last time I've been anywhere shopping other than Fareway or WalMart, but I can tell you I probably wasn't happy about it. Even bought my engagement and wedding ring online. :)

I don't buy anything I can't touch and look at first.

I buy approx. 1/3 of all non-food items online or by mail order. I have been rarely have been disappointed.

I'm with Stacey. Real shopping just stresses me out and eats time. I like shopping from catalog and internet for most things, except food, in the comfort of my own home, sometimes in the wee hours of the morning after I get off work. The icing on the cake is when the UPS man drives up with a PACKAGE for ME!!!! It's like Christmas all year long.

besides food and clothes, a large part of my shopping is over the internet. Not only does it save time but I get a better price. Not just for new items either. The local classifieds papers and newspapers are all online and I can scan through them alot quicker than going out and buying the papers. Some things that used to take 2 hours of my time are done in 10 minutes now with the internet and at less cost. I do all my banking online, haven't stepped into a bank for years even to open a new account. The only bills I don't pay online are the few that don't offer that service yet. I've used credit cards and done banking online and have never had any problems with that. Using a credit or debit card online at legitmate retailers isn't any more risky that using one at your local Walmart. I've worked from home through the internet for about 5 years now.

Webvan made an attempt to offer online groceries but they didn't quite make it financially. The service was somewhat popular in this area, I used to see their trucks quite a bit. Their prices weren't too bad although not as cheap as the discount "bag your own" grocery I shop at.

yeah Debbie, that's a very good point. Shopping online you have access 24 hours a day 7 days a week. You can shop at your convenience, not conform to some stores hours. No driving, parking, standing in lines. Even if you have to eventually walk into a brick and mortar store you can save yourself alot of running around by comparison shopping online first. You'll also find alot more information on a product online than asking some store clerk who usually doesn't have a clue about the products in their store.

Also, when you're shopping for product and trying to make a decision, you can jump over to eopinions.com and see many other peoples comments on that particular item to help in your decision process.

I think I bought about 70% of this past year's Christmas gifts either from the internet (although I called in the orders) or from catalogs. I don't like buying everyone stuff from the local Wally World--they probably already have it anyway. I usually buy food from our Wal-Mart Supercenter, but I do order some mail order too. Suits me fine--I'd just soon NOT go shopping most of the time. I do make it to Sam's Club about once a month to buy some things in bulk.

I order about 75% of our stuff (barn and house) online, or from catalogs. I watch Ebay like a hawk and get much of it through there, but, you have to know the going price of what you're buying. I sew a lot of my daughter's horse show clothes and can get fabric on Ebay for at least 1/2 of what I could in a fabric store. I'm currently working on a polar fleece cooler for Star- cost me total of $25.00 for the fleece and blanket binding, State Line Tack wants $60.00 and up for fleece coolers (they're real proud of them) The print is crazy colored puppies on a purple background, but hey it was cheap and it will fit him regular size coolers make him look like he's wearing his big brother's hand me downs. I won an auction for 4 yards of black brocade with a silver metallic thread through it for $22.00 including shipping-it's usually $15.00 and up a yard- it's going to be a stunning showmanship jacket. However, it must "age" before I can begin working on it (grin), I'm usually sewing on the buttons and tacking in shoulder pads at 2am the night prior to the show. I can't afford $100-200 for a Hobby Horse or 1849 jacket.

I don't grocery shop online tho, I buy in bulk at Sam's, Walmart Superstore, and Aldi's once every month or two.

I just like shopping in my pajamas.

I love shopping on line and do all my banking on line as well as use paymybills.com for bill paying. Yeah, I know, I have to pay a fee to use the service - but if I add up the stamps, gas to go to the post office, and cost of checks written by myself, I spend way more than the 10.95 paymybills charges.

I love the Wally world supercenters, although I usually only buy items like shampoo and stuff. I try to frequent the local ace hardware which is owned by local families, and I do use the local feed stores for pet items instead of petsmart. But you really can't beat wallyworld for alot of things, motor oil comes to mind. I pay .84 cents a quart for store brand 10w40 and the car parts places charge well over a dollar for their store brand.

I love buying Christmas through the net but made a whole lot of my presents this year due to lack of money. And everyone loved my homemade Christmas ornaments and I have orders for next year as well. Looks like a cottage business in the making... I have never had any problems returning an item I didn't like, or not getting what I ordered, although I am still a little leary of ebay.
