Old dudes, mall shoppin and confessions. [preachin]

Have you ever noticed those old folks livin around your area? Of course you have and probably thought the same about'm as I do. Most of'm are good old people that have lived a lifetime of service to others. Many are old folks that are good, honest and upstanding, respectful Christians while, sadly enough, some are just old selfish people who never had a thought of helping others. After many years of observation I've made note of the fact that MOST all people are NOT the self-centered individuals the News Media sometimes portray.

When Lil Dumplin has me to go with'r to the big malls-I usually set out in the "runways" where all the other old hairly legged men set-waitin and watchin. Tobacco juice runnin down the corners of their mouths and drippin on the floor in not an uncommon site and will absolutely "turn your stummick" at times. I get to see all kinds of things that are usually comical from little kids to the oldest of the old. All of'm have something to teach us if we just watch and listen.

If you can find an old dude waitin alongside you, who is not asleep, it's really easy to strike up a conversation with'm. Afterall they are just killin time too--waitin on their lifes pardner to get done shopping. Many of'm have bunches of good stuff in their old heads they are more than happy to tell others. Once inawhile you cross paths with an ornery old cuss who can't talk without cursing every other breath and who are angry at the whole world-condemning all the others who walk by. Those old dudes are a prime target for some "hoot preachin" without'm know'n whats goin on. Now, don't get me wrong--I sure ain't perfect myself but I'm not gonna tell on "me" much to the whole world or whoever is readin this. I STILL have a violent temper but seem to keep it under control with His help, older age and Lil Dumplin makin fun of me when I do slip a mite. [She tells EVERYBODY about the road rage I sometimes slip into!]

So, next time you're out and about take a "look see" around and try locating some old fossils that you can talk to. You might be surprised to find'm more than willing to talk about their lifes and share what they've learned over the years. Our old folks are also Gifts from Almighty God to the rest of the world. If only the rest of the world would take heed and listen to'm. We might all learn something worthwhile after kickin out any garbage they might have accumulited over the years.

Check on any old folks around you. The dead of winter is upon most of us and those old folks sometimes could use a helping hand. God will not let it go un-noticed when we do help out. Old hoot. Matt.24:44

Hoot, I learn so much working with my older patients!! My fellow ER nurses are always kidding me about my old people....they know I have a soft spot in my heart for them. But the real truth is how much I get from helping them! I know this past weekend I asked a gentleman how his wife was handling the chores (herd of 75 goats) with him being ill and not able to help. He was greatful that I even remembered. I enjoy talking with these older people I learn so much. Denise
