Playing VCD on DVD player

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I got mpeg movie files and created VCD using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum. Panasonic DVD player reads that disc and even shows the length of movie, but doesn’t play the movie. Can somebody explain what is going on?

P.S. Computer DVD player Plavia from divx.com plays this movie without any problems.

Thanks.

Not all DVD players are capable of playing CDR/CDRW. Check the player manual to see if it can handle CDR or CDRW disc.

I must admit this is an ongoing problem i have with a Sanyo 7201 DVD player the VCDs i create are puka n play on my friends DVD player and are detected as VCDs on my PC.

My DVD player however displays VCD on the display then goes to PBC and stops the track length is displayed but just stops!!!

I can play audio CDs on CD-R and CD-RW and the manual says it can play all of the CDs i use etc... Iv also tred audio CDs of all colour discs, length, and different burning speeds which all work.

Why do i get this problem tho... If i understand correctly PBC means playback control and is something to do with menus??? Am i right...

Please send any info to my e-mail address

make sure before the vcd is burned that the mpeg is in vcd format first.its not just an mpeg or an mpeg 1 or 2 a vcd mpeg is its own special deal.
