A NEW New years fun thing to do.

Since we celebrate Christmas with a Scandinavian Theme, we decided to do New years with a Scottish theme-Hogmaney. One of the things to do is make and wear crazy hats. We wanted to make hats out of something we had at home and it dawned on me that we had big wads of "trashed" wrapping paper left from Christmas-the paper thats come of the gifts-it hadn't made it out to the trash bin yet. We made all kinds of hats from these paper scraps-we made the "newspaper type, the princess cone and some crowns and some rather elaborate jester types, and decorated them with bows, paper ribbon, bits of tinsel, whatever was left. Each of us made two-one to wear and one to give away. Then we went to Grandparents and relitives houses, wearing our crazy hats and taking homemade noisemakers, and "blasted in the New year-although it was only 8:30 and we gave away the hats we had made. It was so much fun! My father in Law took pictures with his digital camera and this morning he sent the pictures of my mother in law in a jester's hat to everyone via e-mail. The relitives got a big kick out of it and the kids did too. We will definatly do this again next year!

Sounds like a lot of fun Kelly! Grandparents love it when the kids do things like this!

Kelly, did you do first-footing? It's another Scottish new year's custom.
