Mondays challange stumper

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

There is one word in English that uses the first five letters of the alphabet in proper order: A B C D E. These letters can be spaced any way you can find them spaced, they may be reused, vowels have no relevency to this question, the only answer sought is what word contains the letters in order? Your great grandfather would use this word more than you would.

I have NO idea. I didn't even have a "class clown" response pop into my brain. Oh, that is scary! I usually have some sarcastic thought, but not today!

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz, it's the most incredible word I've ever seen abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz wish I knew exactly what I mean. Learned that word on sesame street. I know it's the alphabet but it's all I could think of.

The word in question was most likely used very often during the civil war and still lives today in a slightly shorter version and it starts with the letter A.~~

I was actually reading through all the A's in the dictionary, but didn't make it to Am!

Good one Mitch!
