Is my camera too cold?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

Howdy do, I have two Quesitons: 1. I have a Nikon N2000. This camera automatically advances the film, and it seems to be sticking and over exposing the film. I live in Mongolia and I have only recently started having this problem: since winter. Does anyone know what temperatures these cameras can tolerate? 2. Could anyone explain point me in the right direction on lens? I would like to get another lens, and not only am I confused about what I should get, but also I wonder which Nikon lens are compatible with my camera? I currently have a 50mm, I think it's a pretty cheap lens; it feels sloppy and it's made of plastic. I have debating whether to get a wide angle or a verifocal. Happy Holiday and thanks in advance. Rarely does the temperature in the Hampshire Basin, where I live, stay below zero centigrade all day, so I don't know the answer to your first question, Tom. I do know all about rain, though ... the English have more words for rain than the Inuit have for snow. :-)

The Nikon range of lenses is something I do understand, but I feel a bit daunted by the idea of giving a complete answer to your second question. There must have been the best part of a thousand Nikkor lenses, nearly all of which will fit the N2000 (provided non-AI (pre-1977) lenses have had the aperture ring modified).

For most Nikon cameras, the instruction manual gives a clear list of which Nikon lenses are incompatible. What does your manual say, Tom? If you could post that here, I could add any others that were launched after the manual was written.

Merry New Year!
