Bobby,

I am not an expert on the Atlas system, so I waited to see if someone could give you an answer better than I can.

From what I know about the Atlas system, the first thing you do after getting it, is take it back. :( Most people find that it lacks the features they need. From what I see of its throttles, I would doubt it would allow you to take full advantage, if any, of Soundtraxx sound.

No, you do not have to go with Digitrax. In general, you just need something better than an entry level system. Go for it! Sound is great!

I have the Atlas Commander and a SoundTraxx Decoder in my Bachmann 2- 8-0 and it works great. The Atlas Commander that I have has three functions and for the SoundTraxx Decoder F0 equals light, F1 equals Bell and F2 equals horn.

The new Atlas Commander coming out now had five functions. I need to send mine to Atlas with twenty dollars to get the software modified so that I will have the five function capability.
