LCD Panel doesn't turn off

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I just bought my first SRL, a Canon Rebel 2000 camera. After I loaded my first roll of film, I found that the LCD Panel always displays the Film Status Icon and the Frame Counter even if the Command Dial is set to Lock. Is this normal? If so, doesn't it run down the batteries?

Any information would be most appreciated...

This is completely normal. Yes, it does run down the batteries, VERY slowly. The amount of power required by an LCD screen like that is very small. I would point out that Canon do recommend that you remove the batteries from the camera if it is to be stored for any length of time.

Its normal, battery drain isn't much with that, most of the battery drain is flash use and how many times you fire the shutter.

Yes it is normal. It's just another reminder that we have film in the camera and keep you from opening the back and exposing your film. Once you finish the roll and remove the film, the LCD clears. I hope this helps.
