Can EH-14L be detached?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

This question may seems stupid but I'm really needing some feedback. I have just bought the semi-hard case Canon EH-14L for my EOS-30/28-105mm kit and it is okay. But I found it very difficult, not to say not practical, to open and close the case with the camera/lens inside. My question is: there is a main "button" at the back of this case that keeps the base of the case (that is attached to the camera body) attached to the case itself. Since it would be easier, handy, if this button could be detached (so, disengaging the base of the case from the case itself), I want to know if I can really detach this main button, because I tried and I think it is not a detachable button (I'm affraid to use too much force and break it, in case it is not supposed to be detached). Thanks.

I have the EH13L case for the EOS 300 with 28-80 lens. The hood of the case is attached by a press stud to the base that screws into the tripod thread. The hood will simply pull off. If the case is new, it may require a little force, but it wont damage the case at all.
