Concerned with EMF or magnetic fields?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am wondering if anyone out there has taken specific steps to reduce their exposure to electromagnetic fields or to magnetic fields. What are you trying? What has worked? What differences have you noticed as a result of your actions?

I seem to

Hi Rick #7,

My chiropractor had given my husband and I small, thin magnets to keep in our pockets. It's about the size of a credit card. The Dr. was experimenting with different lighting in his exam rooms too. We both sit in front of computers all day long, and we now feel that we have some more energy, less drained at the end of the day. I'm not exactly sure how it works, or why, but, it didn't cost anything, maybe it's all in my head, but I feel better. I usually wear my magnet in my back pocket because I have lower back & hip trouble. I suppose this thread is more magnet therapy than EMF but that's what our initial concern was. I'm interested in what other do to.

I also work in front of a monitor all day.

What I meant to add on my original post is, I seem to sleep better when I am away from the city and away from lights and other means of electric transmission.

I assume you also have a windup alarm clock, or at the very least have put your radio alarm clock across the room somewhere.

I got rid of my electric alarm clock and now use a wind-up. Short of moving, can't do much about electrical poles, etc.. Limit my exposure to computers, microwaves, unplug everything I can. On another note, we also do not use electric blankets, etc.. We use good old fashioned hot water bottles.

Using the words of one of my most favorite cheeseheads, "Oy vey!!!!" --Happy trails, Cabin Fever P.S. Here in Minnesota we'd say, "That's different." or maybe "Whatever."

I have a friend who's from Japan where these things are very popular. She won't use a microwave oven. She wears a special apron when she's on the computer. It's similar to the apron you wear when you get x-rays at the dentist. She's paranoid over the emissions from televisions. She has a wind-up clock. She carries a little device she touches to her skin to discharge static electricity.

But, she also spends alot of time on a 'hot carpet', a popular thing in Japan which is kind of like a electric blanket and she also uses an electric blanket on her bed.... I tried to explain that electric blankets are probably the worst thing in her house putting out EMF but it was futile. People believe what they want to believe.

She got real nervous when I explained that we are constantly being bombarded with EMF that we have no way of controlling. Things like radio, cellphone, microwave communications, etc, etc etc. I keep waiting to go over there and see that she's wallpapered the house with tinfoil.. ; )

Why are you worrying about it? Aside from closing yourself up in a cave and becomming a hermit, your going to be exposed. Remember the invserse square law. Every time you double your distance source, exposure is 4x diminished.
