Calvin's Breakfast guests and some [Preachin]

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I'd thrown out some chicken bones last evening for the little critters to gnaw on. Lookin out this mornin ole Calvin was chew'n on'm. We don't feed the old dummy ya'll know! Well anyhow-I noticed some movement amongst the tall pine trees surroundin our house. DEER! Those ornery things were all over our yard--eatin the real green grass [that's needin mowed again] among our trees. I counted 6 of'm mosey'n around. They got close to some small trees old jeep had set out for me when I had the heart thing 4 1/2 years ago. They had almost destroyed'm this fall in the rut, twistin and breakin off the small trunks. I wasn't too happy with'm anyhow so I opened the patio door and clapped my hands LOUD! Those things started runnin down north and there wasn't 6--I counted 10! I don't like deer meat or they wouldn't be very safe. I think the truce might be over anyhow.

Got me to think'n a mite. If ole Calvin is gonna invite his/hers/it's friends to breakfast then some rules must apply. Quit molestin my trees, quit depositin natural fertilizer in my yard and quit walkin where it's muddy. Done'n told ole Calvin about it but didn't get much of a reply from the old dummy--cept'n a meow!

Talkin about eatin with invited friends--what about the big marriage supper in heaven? Are ya'll gonna go? Won't have to worry about high fat content, high sugar, colestrol, salt or anything bad for our healt! If ya'll ain't made your reservations I think now would be a real good time to do it. Tomorrow might be too late. Old hoot gibson--Calvins' Keeper. Matt. 24:44

Good post Hoot! I love to watch the deer, but they surely do tear up the fruit trees. I have a couple of Gala apple trees I set out 2 years ago that they must love!! I have a dozen other apple trees they don't touch, but those two they attack.

Good health is something to look forward to isn't it!!!!

That reminds me of the time I was working in the garden and straightened up to see two deer watching me! Our garden is behind the barn, you see! It seemed so comical cause when we lived in the city, we would have loved to watch some deer and these two were observing me!
