how about some photos on the website

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Rocky Mountain 1000 Day : One Thread

I asked this of Mikell in email but instead of answering me, he made me come here and repeat myself. It's really not even a question, but a request. The request is, could Mikell or somebody post some photos of the terrain on the 1000 Day website? My friend Dave Yee only has one week of vacation this summer and he is trying to decide between APOC and the 1000 Day. It would be easier to convince him to come to the 1000 Day if there were photos. For Dave, it's all about the terrain. And Mikell's map clips and verbal descriptions, however poetic, just aren't doing the trick for Dave. This is somewhat urgent!!!

It wouldn't be fair if we put up photos of our Wyoming terrain-- probably nobody would ever want to orienteer anywhere else again. But since when has life been fair? If folks with a photographic bent were kind enough to send along some 1000 Day digital images from time to time, we'd happily take advantage of the fact. In the meantime, it's hard to ignore the fact that the US dollar will go **awfully** far in Canada these days, and if you want to see a Royal Mountie, it's indisputable that you gotta head north...

The other advantage with APOC is that there will be lots of Canadians!

When we attended the relay in 1998, I took a few pictures and later posted them on my personal web page. You can view them at these addresses and see the extraordinarily wide-open terrain that we enjoy in Wyoming. http://www.geocities.com/janetqlts/relaymht.jpg http://www.geocities.com/janetqlts/relaypht.jpg
