Fudge!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

Well---Just in case ya'll wanna know how to build some "hoot fudge" I'll repost it. Actually---it's an old recipe from an older Home Comfort woodstove cookbook.

3 cups sugar

1 cup milk

3 squares of choc

butter size of a walnut.

Mix the first three ingred's, dump in a pan and start cookin.

Cook to a soft ball while stirring.

Remove the pan--set in some cold water, add butter, let cool without beating. When it's cool enough to start settin up a mite--beat the thunder out of it---dump into a buttered dish.

If'n ya'll would rather have peanut butter fudge replace the choc with 3 or 4 large tablespoons of p-butter.

Enjoy ya'll! old hoot, the candy lover. Matt. 24;44

Thanks for the recipe. I tried making fudge today, after receiving some Texas pecans:):) from a friend. And I'as in need of a different (hopefully easier) recipe;)

About how long should this take to cook? I think it's something I'd have to do while the girls are sleeping so I can avoid making a mess of it, and don't want to stay up too late...

After the ingred's gets to boil'n it should cook in about 5 minutes or so--dependin on the amount and type of heat. [Electric vs. gas flame]

I forgot to say that pnuts can be added when the "thunder beat'n" is bein done. old hoot. Matt.24:44

I think part of my problem with the fudge I tried to make yesterday was not quite getting that thunder beat out;) Can you use a mixer? (I know--I'm always looking for a lazier way-haha)

Mary! I don't use a mixer--never even thought of it! Thats bad too because I'm REALLY lazy. I don't know if it would beat it hard enough. I might have to try that one of these days--when Lil Dumplin is gone, that is! I ain't bout to make fudge when she's around. Blood sugar is a mite too high! old hoot, the sweet, [blooded] gibson.
