I posted here for advice on the 21st October and would just like you to know that I have just received written confirmation that they are accepting £1,345 in full and final settlement of my mortgage shortfall (originally they were looking for £10,748)!

I think I will frame the letter and hang it on the wall.

Make sure that they clean up your credit file, that any settlement you agree to applies to your partner as well if it was a joint mortgage, and that the full and final settlement applies to both Abbey National & any MIG insurance policy company.
