What accessory flash units are available for a Canon Rebel X ?

There are dozens of optons.

For TTL metering, USED: Canon 160E, 200E, 300EZ, 420EZ, 430EZ (and even the 300TL).

For TTL metering, NEW: Canon 220EX, 380EX, 420EX, 550EX, 540EZ, 480EG

Hmm, wonder if I missed any of those.

Actually the older Canon A series Speedlites can be used, but only in "auto flash" mode (No TTL metering). (155A, 177A, 199A) - I'm sure I missed others of these.

Several third party TTL flash units are also available: Sunpak 4000 & 5000, Sigma EF430 & EF500, Promaster 5500, 6500, 7500, 9500. - I know there are a bunch more of these as well.

As far as that goes, you can use a whole lot of cheap "auto flash" type units. Newer Vivitar 283/285's, Phillips P536, Sunpak 383, etc. In fact, last I looked WallMart was selling a Vivitar for under $20 that would also work on a Rebel X.

Forgot to mention my preference. Canon 430EZ or 540EZ. They will allow you to use Flash Exposure Compensation (FEC)
