Insurance for long term travel for L series?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I am from the Uk and am moving to the far east for the forseeable future (Cambodia/Vietnam), my problem is I can no longer cover my equipment with household ins and none seems prepared to cover expensive (L series)gear for more than a few months at a time, and even then noone had sufficient cover (+£10,000). Any suggestions, I really want accidental damage cover again if possible.

I had exactly this problem, and, being a student, I could not get any worthwhile insurance for my gear at any reasonable price....

Until I found one perfect policy. Endsleigh insurance offer photographic insurance policies, and the worldwide cover option has no trip time-limit. For less than £90 I was able to get worldwide cover for just under £3k worth of gear, with no maximum trip-length. I do not know whether they provide cover for the kind of amount you're talking about, but check with them and see.

You could also contact Golden Valley Insurance, they offer comprehensive full replacement policies for camera equipment.
