ACL apparently had passenger service from Fitzgerald to Thomasville until 1949. Does anyone know what route that train took and its schedule?

Thanks, Larry. I just purchased your book about the ACL last week. It's great

Fitzgerald-Thomasville mixed trains Nos. 402-403 were discontinued on April 19, 1949. The passenger equipment used through most of the 1940s was an express car and a partitioned coach, although toward the end the trains used a single "Jim Crow" baggage-coach. Power was usually an ex-Atlanta, Birmingham & Coast Pacific in the 71-86 series. The train's route was Fitzgerald, the junction with the Waycross-Atlanta main, straight southwest through Tifton and Moultrie to Thomasville. This branch is now abandoned except for a spur from Thomasville to Coolidge. In August 1945, just before the ACL merger, the schedule was: leave Fitzgerald 9:40 a.m., arrive Thomasville 2:40 p.m.; leave Thomasville 4:00 p.m., arrive Fitzgerald 8:10 p.m. I don't have a later timetable handy but can answer more questions off list. My AB&C book provides full details on this and other aspects of the AB&C and successor ACL Western Division.
