Promaster Lens

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

All discussions either talk of Sigma lenses or Canon lenses. I have a promaster 28-200 on my ELAN 7. Any feedback/experience on promaster lenses?

what's a promaster lens?

Promaster doesn't make lenses. They market lenses from other manufacturers. Same as Vivitar & Phoenix.

Last new 28-200 Promaster I saw looked suspiciously like the older model Sigma. Actually it wasn't a bad lens, as super-zooms go, and it was half way sharp at the wide to mid lengths.

The reason we don't discuss Promaster lenses here (or Sigma!) is that this is a Canon EOS FAQ forum, not a Promaster forum. There are lots of other places you can get opinions on Promaster or other third party lenses since it doesn't matter what you mount them on. This forum is really for EOS specific questions.

Promaster lenses aren't very good by the way. They may be good enough for some users, but on an absolute scale they don't rate very highly.
