Today is H, so haul out your recipes for ham, hot dogs, holiday punch and I don't know what all else!!

Here is how I make ham salad, and I am sorry I don't measure anything. Grind you ham in a grinder or food processor. I add about a 1/2 jar of home-made sweet relish, some mayonnaise and some mustard. Sometimes I will add onion. Mix and serve on bread or crackers. Delicious!

Hush Puppiesbr> Makes about 12

1 Egg, lightly beaten
1 cup Milk
2 Tablespoons minced green onions
1 cup Cornmeal
1/2 cup Flour
1 teaspoon sugar 3/4 teaspoon Baking powder
1/4 teaspoon Baking soda
1/4 teaspoon Salt
Oil for deep-frying

Heat the oil to 375. Mix together the egg, milk, and green onion. In a separate bowl, blend together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir the dry mixture into the egg mixture. Drop spoonfuls (about 1 1/2 Tablespoons each) into the hot oil. Cook for about 3 minutes (or until brown). Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

I'm lucky if mine ever make it to the table! Hubby loves these!

HERMAN SOURDOUGH STARTER

Recipe By : Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Breads

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 pk Dry yeast 2 c Flour 1 t Salt 3 tb Sugar 2 c Water 110-115 degrees

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 c. warm water. Let stand 5 minutes. Combine next 3 ingred. in a med. sized nonmetal bowl. Mix well. Gradually stir in 2 c. warm water. Add yeast mixture and mix well. Cover loosely and let stand for 72 hrs. in a warm place stirring 2-3 times per day. Place fermented mixture in refrgerator, and stir daily; use within 11 days. To use, remove sourdough starter from refrigerator and let stand at room temp. for at least 1 hour. Stir well and measure amount of starter needed for recipe. Replenish remaining starter with Herman Food, and return to the refrigerator; use within 2-14 days, stirring daily. Yield: about 2 c. starter Herman Food: 1/2 c. sugar, 1 c. flour, 1 c. milk.

Herman Cake 2 c.Herman 2 c.Flour 1/2 tsp soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon 2 Tbsp Baking powder 1 c. sugar 2 eggs 2/3 cup oil 1 c. raisins 1 c. nuts

pour into 9 x 13 pan top with 1c. brown sugar 1 tbsp flour 1 Tsp Cinnamon 1/3 cup melted margarine Bake 350 for 35 to 40 min glaze with powdered sugar icing if desired

Herman Pancakes

1 c. Herman 1 c. flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp soda 2 tsp baking powder 1 c. milk 2 eggs, beaten mix until moistened fry on hot griddle

Herman Bread

2 c. Herman 2 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp soda 1/2 tsp salt 1 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon 2 eggs 2/3 c. oil 1 c. nuts, raisins,dates,or apples or omit cinnamon and use choc.chips

mix pour into pans bake 350 for 40 to 45 min

Herman cinnamon rolls 2 c. Herman 2 c. flour 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp soda 4 tsp baking powder 1/2 c. oil

Mix and knead slightly on a floured board, until it is not sticky. Roll our dough to 1/4 inch thick and spread with butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Roll up as for jelly roll. Slice into 1/2" slices. Combine 1 stick of margarine, 1 c. brown sugar and 1/2 c. nuts in bottom of 9 x 13 pan place slices of dough on top bake 350 for 35 minutes invert pan onto platter while still hot.

Herman biscuits

1 c. herman 1 c. flour 3/4 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp salt 1/3 cup oil mix ingredients together. Drop by tablespoon onto a baking sheet and bake for 12 to 15 minutes at 350

Hamburger Dip --

1 1/2 lbs Velvetta cheese, 1/2 can Ro-Tel Tomatoes and Chilies, 1 lb hamburger cooked with taco seasoning, and extra chopped jalopenos, if desired. Mix all together in crockpot or double boiler.

Honeyed chicken and pineapple

One chicken cut into serveing size pieces, Coat the chicken pieces with 1/2 cup cornstarch, Heat oil a couple of cups in wok, or large frying pan, Add chicken pieces, one at a time{cook only a few pieces at a time,Cook until golden and completely cooked, about five mins. Drain on absorbent paper, repeat with remaining pieces. Pour all but two tablespoons of oil out of wok, Stir fry two teas. of grated ginger root,and 1 clove garlic crushed. for one min. {this is still a hot oil in wok},Add one can of pineapple chumks, drained and one green pepper, cut into thin slices, to the wok, and stir fry over high heat for two mins. Remove from wok. Mix 1 1/2 cups water, and two teaspoons cornstarch, Blend in 1 1/2 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon instant chicken bouillon granules, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, Pour mixture into wok, Cook and stir over high heat untill mixture boils and thickens, Return chiken and pineapple pepper mixture to wok. Cook and stir over high heat until hot thoughout. Add 4 green onions cut into thin slices, and stir fry one min. makes 4 servings. I lived in San Francisco for many years, and I learned to cook all these chinese dishes there. LOve Irene
