EOS Rebel 2000 - Bodybuilding Stage Pictures

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I'm an avid bodybuilder and want to take some terrific pictures with my 2 week old Rebel, but at bodybuilding shows there is a tremendous amount of bright lights in which to show the minute details of the physiques of the competitors. What is the best film & speed for this with and with out a flash? Also, what would be the proper setting(s). I'm very new to photography but plan to eventually be a very serious hobbists. Thank you!

try using any 400 speed film. if you are getting a shutter speed less than 1/125sec you should probably move up to a 800 speed film. if you are really desparate try fuji superia 1600. your main concern here for quality photographs is shutterspeed, not film grain. the higher the this is because shooting indoors with available light is usually darker than most people realise. as for proper settings try using your rebel in Av (apeture value priority) with the apeture set to its brightest setting (probably around 5.6). remember that the smaller the number the more light that is being let into the camera thus resulting a faster shutter speed. good luck!
