Charlton Athletic vs Newcastle United - Match Threadgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread |
"Coverage" is just beginning on Metro now, who is going to be here for the match?
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Alone Paul?
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
I'll be here! The webcast audio hasn't started yet, though the stream is there. Just waiting for them to flip the switch, or whatever they need to do.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Score prediction: 8-6 to Charlton
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Metro advert:"Get your family the best Christmas gift ever - a Sunderland Part Season Ticket! - It beats socks"
Aye, but not Sheffield Wednesday!
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
I'll be here for some of it - if I can stand it.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
"It beats socks"?! That's saying alot about the value of their tickets. ;-))
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
I'm beginning to get tempted to just turn it off and go to sleep, set my alarm for after the match is finished and hope for the best.At least then I don't have to build my hopes up, only to have them shat on from a huge height by a seagull with a Charlton top on.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Team unchanged from the Derby game, so Distin drops out after playing so well against Ipswich.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
I reckon Aaron Hughes will be subbed off after a short while, it seems like he's been hit badly by the flu.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Team:Given
Hughes - Dabizas - O'Brien - Elliott
Solano - Lee - Speed - Robert
Shearer - Bellamy
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Maximum points on the teampick :)
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Anyone have the webcast yet? I may have to go seek out Charlton's. Ours is usually on by now. grrr.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
How's the weather in darkest Cumbria, Clarky ? It's beautiful on this edge of makemland ?Could have done without knowing that, though, so far in advance of the KO, leaves longer for me to gnash me gums.
Think Bobby's erring on the side of caution leaving Distin out.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
If we go 1-0 up I fancy our chances. If we don't, I dont.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Considering our London record, I don't see the point in being that cautious. We know Distin played well on Tues, so why not keep him in the side. Or play Bernard instead of Elliott since Elliott has been struggling. What's teh worst that can happen..we lose..again? Change might do us good in this case.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Metro man Mick Martin predicts:"2-1 - Newcastle to win"
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Bobby's interview on Metro right now sounds like the AltaVista Lolo translations.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
That should read Nobby
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Though it works both ways.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Afternoon all.Anyonw got the Metro/nufc.co.uk webcast yet? Mine's streaming but not playing anything yet? There was a moment when a voice cam on and said "testing Newcastle" then it's gone quiet again?
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
T minus nine minutes to kick off...
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
I thought Bernard would get his chance in view of Robbie's form of late. Oh well.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Same here, Wonkey. And Charlton seem to be using the same company because I'm getting the same when I connect to theirs. Though their website does say the broadcast starts 'just before' kick off.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Start rubbing your Shearer shirts everyone
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
I see McCann want's to desert the sinking ship now...oh deer, all is not well at MonkeyVille!
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Reckon he's worth going for as a replacement for Lee? Erickson must have seen something in him.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Hello all. Just busted a gut getting my shiny new laptop configured in time for the webcast and..... nowt as usual.Still, possibly a blessing in disguise?

-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Speaking of scores, could we not report any Derby-Liverpool scores? Game is on TV here right after this game.I know it's an important score, but I'm sure anyone here who wants to know is probably following the scores somewhere else on the web
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Only thing better than turkey stuffing, Wonkey, would be us winning today. :-D

-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
opportunity wasted
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Why are we taking free kicks on the edge of the area quickly when we have the likes of Shearer, Robert and Solano who can score from those?
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Too many egos, not enough sense?
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
We are spurning too many chances
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Another Charlton player down injured. Maybe if we just knack them all, we can win by default. ;-)
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Default win would do me :)
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Default, Charlton og, I'm not picky.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Nobby seems to be getting involved, one good ball to Shearer is all it takes. The thing is, Bellamy is running off with the ball and leaving everyone behind.

-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
McInally on Sky Sports said Shearer's sending off was unbelievable.Said D'Urso has had an awful game, just booked people because nobody had been booked yet.

'Punched away by She Given'Ermmm...does his wife know about this? ;-)
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Shearer sent off - straight red for violent conduct. Alan McInally on Sky TV said it was never a sending off in a million years - and he hates us!!
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Ginola sent off so he can spend some time practising centring with him
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
We should drop Shearer for London games. He never scores there and now he gets sent off there. The FA could at least let him serve his ban in London games only
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Swift, yer mail box is full (again).Bobby MUST make a complaint about D'Urso this time, surely?
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001

-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Bobby doing his nut at the 4th official at full time on Sky!!!
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Well, we got a point anyway. FT 1-1. Wonder if Bobby will have a Keegan-esque outburst after this one? ;-)
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Rodney Marsh reckoned it took six people to get Ginola off the field.Just seen the final whistle at the Valley (1-1) and BR was apoplectic with the Referee.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Full timeI wish Bellamy had put some of those chances away.
London jinx my left testicle, if we'd put those bliddy chances in the net Charlton would never have beaten us.
WANTED: A GUN AND A REFEREE WHO ANSWERS TO D'URSO, W*NKER, TW*T OR ANY OTHER INSULT

-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001

-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
If you get refs answering to the other insults, there'd be no refs left. Oh. Hmmm.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
I lost my connection to the net after 80 minutesReconnected, slower than before and we went downhill from there
So it's my fault :(
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
ggggrrrr
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
The man is simply an incompetant referee - I truly don't know how he stays on the PL list.Listening to commentary - 1st half on Radio Metro, 2nd on Sky TV - we seemed to have the edge in the 1st half, and both sides seemed to have created lots of chances in the 2nd with both keepers doing well.
It may be that a point was a decent result, although these are the games we have to win if we want to stay in the top 6. Incidentally, we are joint 3rd with Leeds who play tomorrow.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
Good night allSweet dreams
Weel hammer Chelsea theyll never play as well again as they did today.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
That has got to be a horrible result? 2 poins thrown away?:-(
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
We should be 2 points ahead of Leeds. I am not happy with a point. ANOTHER lost opportunity against a crap team.Bellamy is missing more than Cole, yeah at least he is getting in position blah blah blah, sod that, he should be putting some away.
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
I should be happy with a 1-1, but I'm really p*ssed off with it.Not really annoyed with the team, although that might change after I see Shearer's sending off tonight on the telly. Yet again, a referee has spoilt the game. Bellamy was booked for absolutely nothing and the Metro pair reckon he would have went down under the challenge of their 'keeper had he not already been booked. Cheated out of a win in a way. To make it worse the fecking munchkin scores in the last 10 minutes for the Mackems. Sh!t
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
I'm off now to put the Christmas tree up (or help do it)I hate London, stupid place
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
yeah paul, but, kp rarely misses and the same goes for Fowler. but 1- 1 is better than it might have been, the bookings and sendings off make it awful. also interesting observation - Man u have lost to Bolton Leeds Aresenal Necastle and Chelsea - put the initial letters together and you get BLANC!
-- Anonymous, December 01, 2001
WTF's this instant red card that the nobhead commentator keeps mentioning? Does he mean a straight red card?
