Focaccia Recipe (Kitchen - Baking)

This recipe is easy to make.I mix in my favorite herbs in the dough as well as put some on top.

Focaccia 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour 1 tbs. yeast 1/2 tsp. salt 2/3 cup very warm water(120-130 degrees F) 1 tbs. olive oil

In large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, undissolved yeast and salt. Stir water and oil into dry ingredients. Stir in enough remaining flour to make soft dough. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes. Cover,let rest on floured surface 10 min.

Divide dough into eight equal portions;form each into smooth ball.Roll each ball to 4-inch round.Place on greased baking sheets.

With handle of wooden spoon, make indentations in dough at 1 1/2-inch intervals. Brush dough with olive oil.Sprinkle with an herb of your choice.Cover;let rise in warm,draft-free place until doubled about 1 hour.

Bake at 400 for 15 to 18 minutes or until done.Serve immediately.

Too make these extra tasty you can cook them on a grill in your fireplace- that is how all the old timers I know in Italy do it.

We always add lots of minced garlic and basil to our dough, drizzle with olive oil, top with anchovies, greek olives, red onions and diced tomatoes, sprinkle heavily with coarse black pepper and parmesan, and yes Kelly it's awesome on a grill!

I read your recipe and I'd like to give it a try. Do you really use a whole tablespoon of yeast or did you mean teaspoon?

In bread recipes a tablespoon of dry yeast, from the bulk yeast that you buy, is equal to one package. Most recipes for bread call for at least one tablespoon. I have a bread recipe that calls for 3tbsp but it makes 5 huge loaves.
