Who else here is thought of as abnormal by their families?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Anarchy Again : One Thread

Now, granted, my family loves me to bits and would never kick me out or stop talking to me or something, but they all think I'm off my rocker. Well, mostly off my rocker. I was wondering who else was the oddball of their family.

I'm the oddball in that i'm the only halfway NORMAL one. My older sister collects paintings, and keeps them in a closet, sorted, categorized, and never even LOOKS at them. She's a complete "neat freak"(and I use that term loosely). Her husband is worse. He is a chain-smoker and a total butthole. He's always PATRONIZING me, even though he's only 10 years older than me.

Me! Me! Even though yall must think of me as very Conservitive and Anti-Leftist I am the same way towards the Right. And in the Bible Belt MidSouth that isnt a good thing. I am called Marilyn at work. I had messed up and admitted I listen to Mansons music at break. Shit! I dont call them Garth. And my family... they worry about me. Not because of anything Ive done. They just think that because I dont think like them that I wont do well in life. Fuck that! I will do better!!!

And we all know I'm a few cards shy of a full deck. I followed Mac all the way from England like a stray puppy after all.

I'm an Eurasian girl with a shaved head, 20-hole Docs, patched-up pants, and braces(not the kind for your teeth). Of course my family thinks I'm odd. But you know what? my whole family is odd. We have oyster stuffing for Thanksgiving. My grandmother owes her life to the black family that raised her as a child, and yet she's racist. My aunt is 45 and lives with her mother. My dad's been an alcoholic for so long that he doesn't realize he's got cirrhosis. Everyone is a little odd.

Oyster stuffing with saltines? I made that for an Apple computer party and everybody looked at me funny. Not a recommended party favorite for transsexuals. Scandinavian transsexuals maybe.

-- Rita Hill (ritah@rmi.net), November 30, 2001.

I think my family are not very racist. The mind-controlled short men who marry tall women who raised me -- they are racist.

Oh yeah, I'm deffinately odd. I used to be a normal little teen who spent way too much time on the net. That's what changed me. I found anarchy sites and got hooked. Soon, I was an anarchist also. My oddness goes in my humour (sarcasm, mostly on myself) and my talking (I love to use scottish accent). My dad's used to it however, there already was a punk before in the family =)

My Family were the people who sent me to a mental home cause they thought i was brainwashed by a cult due to the fact that i didn't want to practice the lutheran religion with them any more.. My Parents are those Hardcore American's (TM) Father coached every sport imaginable, Worked in the Navy, the Army, The national guard,,, My mother helped with sunday school, Cubscouts, youth Groups,, And now public television... One set of grandparents .. well the grandmother.. Is as Racist as you can get.. in a nice way...while the OTher Grandparents Are about as Redneck as you can get... Famliy can't understand why i'd want to goto hell and Speak against the country and *gasp* Jesus.... *sighs* Christmas we were with the rednecks when my Aunt-grandma Was going off about how The people were Sick and Brainwashed when they crashed into the Buildings... I brought up the Society of the Assissins who believed that they'd reach paradise if they did their leaders bidding *(long story, if you don't know it.. ask)* and i brought out the fact that Amerikkkan's are getting brainwashed by the constant visual Enima's that the Media is throwing out... They all stare at me like a dog who was just shown a card trick... Say fuck it.. walk out.. Come back in later and my mom's like "It's alright.. we still love you"....... *TWITCHES* my god.. Banality is a sad sad thing... er... not to mention i wear a purple and black Jester's cap with Devil horn's, Various tokens on the prongs, and a Goatee that can reach my Eyebrows... *shrugs*

If your whole family were oddballs, then wouldn't being an oddball would make you normal and being normal would make you an oddball?

-- Aimless (aimless@national_raffle_association.org), March 19, 2002.

My mother is the sole reason I lived to adulthood. She shielded me from my fathers rath. He a died in the wool Southern Democrat, could never quite understand how I thought. He came to realize over the years that I proved him wrong on many occations and he could never prove me wrong. I am a conservitive republican and have remained so from the time I began to watch, with interest, world affairs and domestic polices.

My parents are gone now, but my brothers and sister often wonder where my parents went wrong. I personally think they did the right thing. They allowed me to think for myself and form a personality of self-reliance.

"im an outcast in my family none of them take me seriously or anything and they all treat me lke someone who just came out of prison or off of the street i am very emotionsl and my family is not. i always fel horrible and i odnt know what to do."
Well, you can start by typing and trying to spell correctly. In English, which seems to be the language you speak (type), I is capitalized. Not capitalizing I when referring to oneself is indicative of a weak self-worth of poor self asteem. The word im does not exist. It is 'I'm', short for "I am", a word with significant power in a non-communist or collective society where the phrase "I am" is oft replaced with "we are", and I replaced with "We" or "Us".

Clean up the rest like "like" (not 'lke') and odnt (it is don't) and emotional (not what ever it is that you spelled) and any other mishaps you may have made whilst on the keyboard, and that just might be a step in the correct dirrection for respectability.
