Jed, we treat this forum as if was our church, your brand of humor needs more class and maturity to be accepted here. We are mostly past college age and our humor has consepts such as raising boneless chickens or propane tv's. We post here about life in rural settings, orentitating towards self sufficence living, helping your neighbor solve his problems, your cooperation in these areas will make you welcome here.

Estes Hatchery in MO gave me some excellent utility Barred Rocks and New Hampshires. Belt Hatchery in California did well with Buff Orpingtons. (Also some heavy breed males for the freezer) Ideal in Texas gets a lot of good press from people on the Poultry Information Exhange. Pete Theer (www.poultryhelp.com) does an excellent job with hatching eggs.

We had good luck ordering from Belt Hatchery. All the chicks arrived healthy and we didn't lose even one. It was our first time raising chicks. www.belthatch.com

We have always had great service from Murry McMurry and have never had any chicks arrive dead or even die after arrival. They have quite a selection too and what a fun catalog to look through with all the color pictures.

Murry MacMurry is tops in my book.

I've used McMurray and Double R Discount in Florida and was happy with both. In the Spring I was going to use Stromberg's for my turkeys.

murray mcmurray. I have never had a problem with them or their chicks.

W have used Murray Mcmurray for six years, and love their selection and quality, but you do pay for the best. When we have bought chicks elsewhere mortality was high.

Ideal out of Texas by far has the best prices. Price matters to me;) And I've always gotten healthy birds.

I've only ordered from Ideal in Texas and Privett in New Mexico 'cause they're close by. I've been very satisfied. Since the airline/post office mess, I only order from Ideal 'cause they truck the birds to my post office. I would suggest you purchase the birds from the closest hatchery....possibly drive over to pick them up.If you're interested in show birds, buy from a breeder, not a hatchery.
