recommend a lense for eos 1n-rs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have recently purchased a eos 1n-rs. I am looking for a lense. actually two. I want a fish-eye, at least 17mm, if not 15mm. a zoom fisheye would be nice, but I don't want to spend more than I already have for the camera. I am also looking for a lense that will be about 28mm (or 24) to 80mm (or 105). any suggestions. I know canon lense are great. I have heard tokina are just as good. your advice will be greatly appreciated.

you should buy the canon L series lenses. they are the best. i don't think that they make fish-eye zooms (nobody does) but they do have extremely wide anlge zooms. i suggest the 28-70L 2.8 and the 70-200L IS 2.8. i assume that you have that kind of money since you bought a pro camera...

Pentax makes a fisheye zoom for K mount cameras. Won't fit your Canon though. Canon does make an 15mm full frame fisheye.

Canon makes a 17-35mm f/2.8L (soon to be a 16-35mm) that is quite costly, and a 20-35 USM that is more reasonably priced. They are all very good lenses. (Well, we don't actually know about the 16-35 yet.) They also make a 14mm f/2.8L (big bucks again), and at least one each of 20mm, 24mm, 28mm and 35mm lenses.

In addition toi the 28-70 f/2.8L described above, Canon gives you the option of good 24-85mm, 28-105mm and 28-135mm lenses. I wouldn't recommend the 28-80mm or 28-90mm Canon lenses being sold now.

Tokina does make some good lenses. As does Tamron and Sigma, etc. They are usually priced less than the Canons, but you usually get what you pay for, and there usually are good reasons why Canon is able to charge more for their glass.
