Multiple Exposure

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have a Canon EOS 300 camera. I want to know how to take multiple exposure on a single frame. The manual says something about it. But I could not understand how to set different stops for different exposures. If anyone know how to set stops for multiple exposures please tell me.

Thanks, Sajeev

Set it to multiple exposure mode (I think you press a multi-function button several times to do that) and turn the main dial (the one next to the shutter) until you get the number of exposures you want showing in the LCD display.

As far as apertures goes, I think the manual is making the point about adjusting (reducing) your exposure for multiple exposures. Otherwise bright areas that overlap on each exposure will overexpose the film. If you have no overlap of bright areas from each exposure, you don't need to change anything from what the meter recommends.

If there is bright area overlap, and there usually is, you will need to reduce your exposure to compensate. Usually reduce the exposure one stop for a double or tripple exposure and perhaps two stops for more exposures than that. Set the camera to the manual exposure mode and you can use either a faster shutter or larger (smaller number) aperture to do this.

Use negative (print) film, as exposures are easier to get right than when using slides.
