What is "Barbados" sugar?

I was given a recipe for digestive biscuits by an English friend which calls for Barbados sugar- anyone know what this is in American?

It is a type of brown sugar, which has more of the molasses still left in it, slightly grainier and stickier than most US dark brown sugars. You can probably just substitute dark brown sugar with no problem.
