A Warning to Lusenet Users

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I am taking time to warn those who use lusenet of the Uncs Wild West Forum. There are many trolls on the lose who have targeted other threads/forums here. Yours may be next. They have attacked Pooles Roost and beginning to spam and disrupt ALL of the Lusenet. Please be careful using your correct email address. If possible, try a hotmail account for the time being.

Thank you.

I know there have been problems, so forgive me if I seem rude, but who are you and what are your credentials? How do we know YOU are on the up and up?

ditto!

Why hotmail?

Everyone please be aware that I am monitoring the forum very closely. The best thing to do in the event of prank postings is to ignore them COMPLETELY, don't worry they will be deleted with due haste.

If we all just practice "safe email" openings, how can anyone get to us? Just having an unopened email in your mailbox can't hurt you, can it? I don't open email from anyone I don't know. And these days, I don't even open from anyone on any forum. Sorry if that offends anyone, but after that troll on CS started pretending to be some of the regulars, I quit believing that people are who they say they are. At least, in email form. So, please don't be offended if I don't answer emails from any of you. It's kinda silly we have to go to such lenghths, isn't it?

Someone may be able to use our name and e-mail address on a forum but they cannot send an actual e-mail to someone using our e-mail address, can they?

*************hotmail has built in virus protection on downloads. I still would delete all questionable e-mails, unopened!

******I think if you show your Internet Service Provider E-mail address they can infiltrate or hack you, if they are clever enough.

********** Sad.

Terry, when I send e-mails, they carry the address of my choice, set in my Netscape Identity Preferences. This alows me to deflect spam from my ISP primary mailbox.
