Raves In Chicago?! Where?!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : North Carolina Raves : One Thread

Hi! I'm from South Bend, Indiana and I'm looking for A party/rave to attend in the Chicago Area! I've had no luck here in South Bend. Hardly any good parties here, very dead. Only thing I've heard about the Chicago Rave Scene is that they get shut down sometimes. Who out there has an Idea of some good raves to go to in the near future (in Chicago) please give me a e-mail :) Info Line or anything. I'm 19 too!

And I was also wondering what people knew about E, If anything :)

Thanks, Michelle

Yo, I'll tell you right now parties in Chicago are pretty much not allowed theres alot of Anti ravelaws here which really sucks, but we just party outside Chicago, go to www.raverworld.com, theres a party tonight in Rockford, so if you want to drive, then come to a good party.

The rave scene in Chicago is dead thank god... Too many little kids doing drugs, what people fail to realize how strong the club scene is and always has been in Chicago. It sucks for those who are under 21 but for those who are old enough have usually 5 nights a week to choose from. I have been to many other places and lived in other states and have come to the conclusion that Chicago has more talent playing on a thursday night then any other city in the US, maybe NY and SF come close. Fact is, if you looking for good music you don't need to go to raves, clubs are a great alternative, if your only looking to get fucked up, like I said I am glad the rave scene is dead.

P.S. Under the new management www.raverworld.com went to shit...

yo what up you said you was looking for a bangin ass party , but shit yo check it out, south bend, march 16, yeah i know the south bend scene is kinda week, but this party is gonna be off tha hook, come out and show some luv,......or you can wait til demf but thats hella far from now

-- Anonymous, March 15, 2002

As far as parties inside the city limits they have to be shut down by like 2am. but wouldnt you know the shady ass promters are still going to charge you $25-$35 to get in. the TRUE party kids need to start looking eles where. I went to a semi-undreground party outside of Rockford and seen Plolywog throw down. dont tell me its to far to drive because i have to drive at least 2hrs to get to a party. as for the promoters that are going to say "well it takes money to get the tallent in" i know a young promotion group in the quad cities (which their scene is finaly starting to revive)that said they will never charge over $20 for ANY party and they are trying to get a hold of Sasha and Digweed to come and spin a party. so if you are looking for a party you are going to have to make the drive!

-- Anonymous, March 27, 2002

you people are stupid....there is no such thing as raves anymore the scene has become mainstream now... true party kids dont even go anymore...go to a club loser...

-- Anonymous, July 22, 2002

It sux the rave seen have curled up and died. since 9-11 alot of shit has changed. no more pillz no more raves no more fun. Hit me up if you know of a raw party cummin up. WORD Charley T. Razor beat connection crew (thought u knew)

hey, I am from St. Louis, Mo and I am coming up to Chicago for the weekend of August 3rd, 4th, and 5th. My friends and I are just looking for fun shtufff...if that requires driving a long way then thats FINE...the ST. Louis kids really know how to SUCK IT UP and get on the road and get to the party with out complaining about it. We've experienced some hardships as well with the scene moving out of the city but all i have to say is that BEING A COMMUNITY means that our ability to throw down and have a good time doesn't depend on location...it depends on us. Music transcends the location and that means we needn't complain about where the party is, and we shouldn't be having this ravers vs. clubbers thang because IT DONT MATTER as long as the music is good. Sorry i am getting preachy, but i have this tendancy to get off on a tangent. ANYWAY, my original question was 'where are the raves for AUG 3, 4, 5?' I would love some info!! peace and luv, Emily

Yankees dont know what a good old rave is like.Yee misfortunes need to get over to Europe for a good old rave. There is no such thing as a real rave in this land

-- Anonymous, April 07, 2003

I'm gonna have to agree with a lot of people on the board here. Rave is dead! It really sux. I miss 'em. I spent some of the best nights of my life at parties. Clubs are a good alternative if you're looking to go out and dance and enjoy good music. But they dont have the same vibes as parties once did. They environment isn't as frienly all the time. The "love thy neighbor" mentality is nonexistent, even though it only existed as a result of mind altering substances. Now all you got is liquor. But that should suffice, because most of us are over 21 and are gettin too old to be e-tards. So, if you are goin for the music, you will find it, but if you wanna get fucked up and love someone...stay home.

-- Anonymous, April 28, 2003

what's up peeps?

I basically am echoing this question except for the July 3-6th weekend, 03...I spin jungle/dnb and am from the sf bay area..love to check out a good party especially a UG even if driving is necessary...holla!

ON THE REALS YALL, ITS NOT REALLY THAT RAVES ARE DEAD BUT, THE MUSIC, TRANCE, TECHNO, AND ALL THAT STUFF JUST GOT REALLY BAD... IF YOU ALL ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD TIME IN CHICAGO I RECOMEND YOU LOOK INTO THE LOUNGES, THATS WHERE ITS AT. THERE NOT CLUBS ITS LIKE BEING IN A LIVING ROOM WIT KICK AS DJ'S. OH YEAH MAKE SURE THE LOUNGES ARE SPINNING HOUSE MUSIC.. HOUSE MUSIC IS AND ALWAYS WAS THE SHIT, ITS SO FUCKING SOULFUL AND CHILL YET VERY DANCEABLE, PLUS ALL THE HOUSE MUSIC LOUNGES, ARE FULL OF PEOPLE THAT DONT CARE ABOUT IMAGE OR WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING, EVERYONE IS SO STONED OR SOMESHIT THAT THEY DONT CARE.. THE VIBES ARE THE SHIT TOO.. GOOD VIBES ALL AROUND GOOD LOOKING PEOPLE AND YOU WILL ALWAYS FIND DANK WEED, YOULL HAVE TO BRING YOUR YOUR OWN E AND SHIT LIKE THAT. ALSO IF IN CHICAGO LAND AREA PICK UP FLYERS OUTSIDE OF CLUBS OR LOUNGES, IF YOU SEE ANY PORCH MONKEY FLYERS THATS ME AND MY CREW. WE THROW DOWN HOUSE PARTIES, KINDA LIKE RAVE, NEVER AT CLUBS NOR LOUNGES, WE FIND STRANGE SPOTS DRESS EM UP THEN TROW DOWN. PEACE

Hey I'm heading home to Ireland at the end of September and am looking for one good end of Summer party before I go home. Tech-house is huge in Ireland rite now with Felix da Housecat, Timo Maas and Dave Clarke with banging techno leading the masses. Outdoor parties are hitting us big-time as well. Please give me a shout if anyone hears of some good parties.....Chicago seems so tame and the clubs are full of posers not music lovers. Louise

Are there any good parties in the Northern Indiana (around South Bend) or Southern Michigan area? Something around Chicago would be ok too...but are there any good parties with no drugs, or places where drugs aren't the reason why people are going? Are there any raves or at least PARTIES like that? Seems like clubs are the only thing. (that's cool too). Hard to find a good underage club around South Bend. Just looking for a good time.

Yea, France is like the best place for ravers, but so is poland i went there during the summer....everyday of the week at midnight there was a rave party goin on with glow sticks, drugs, and all that shit. Also sum where in Bloomingdale there's this place called Vibe or sumthing like that, every staurday at like 12am to 5am there's true raver parties. u have to be like 13 to get in, no cops or n e thing, It's awesome!

-- Anonymous, October 27, 2003

I'm not a raver, i'm a music lover also... Since i came into "the scene" like about 2 years ago i can't call myself a raver.. but yeah.. the real principle is just go out and have fun..when i first got exposed to EDM my friend was anti-EE so.. like i didn't get to do it til like last year.. I didn't need it... the whole point is to have fun while ur around people that enjoy EDM as much as you.. i go fuggin' nuts when i hear my fave dj spinning... always wallin' out in front of the booth..I've never been to a "rave" but i'm just happy with "the scene" now..so many parties and venues have been shut down coz of the god damn RAVE ACT... but yeah... i say that they can't take the music away from us coz i'll still be dancing.. coz the music's inside my head... they can't stop us... anyhoo me and my boyfriend will be going out to Chi-town in december right before christmas... I just wanted some feedback on some good parties out there in chi-town that are 18+... my beaux's 21 and i'm 19...i'll be 20 next month... i live in the D.C. metro area.. i'm just glad Buzz came back to town... Cubik at Nation :woot: every fridays!! even though ya'll are out there... come join the buzzboard... www.buzzlife.com/mssg_brd

I can remember the days of kraftwerk and 5$ partys where you ran half way to hell and back to find the checkpoint then halfway to hell and back for the party remember boom?or how about we are family oh yeah is vibeonaughts still around? remember how it used to be well no more it saddens me to think that to get into a slammin party now i need at least 30 oh well life moves on and so does the scene.

-- Anonymous, November 12, 2003

6! 4+4=6!!!!1 wait.... oh okay all the clubbers need to go and fall in a ditch and all the ravers need to move to tokyo and actualy go to a REAL RAVE and attend REAL streetraces

-- Anonymous, November 25, 2003

Actually . . . All the DJ's need to stop doing clubs - i agree there. Clubheads + Ravers - never a good thing. Street racing on the other hand . . . I'm part of 10/94. It's my Street Racing crew. I own a 1997 Toyota Supra 6-speed (yes, only the 6-speeds came turbo). It's Blurple and fast. I've been street racing since I was 15 (ha, no joke) and I can tell you it's very much alive and well. True there are some fucking ricers that ruin it - but the real racers don't race at 42nd and pulaski or ashland or archer. The real racers know where the real races are. I'm not talking chump change, I've seen f-body mustangs lose $5,000 or more; more than once. I've also seen people lose their cars. So the idea that the Illinois (i say that 'cause we race all over, not just chi-town) race scene is dead is absurd.

we didn't know how good freedom was until the fucking government took it away...this ain't no democracy when dancing is illegal governments have always feared music because it helps people think about shit too much... remember that feeling...walking in the door, chilling to the vibe...then shoom...and off you went...:/

WHERE THE RAVE PARTY?

-- Anonymous, April 04, 2004

It's strange to hear the different views on this board. I was just checkin it out cuz I'm comin up to Chi-town from STL next week. I'm from AZ and have to tell you that the parties out in the desert are still kickin and still underground. There are the good ole check points, long drives to other checkpoints, and parties under the stars out in the middle of nowhere with bonfires, shooting stars, a DJ tent and projections. The ages vary from 16-30 years old...vibes are good, people are cool, drug use varies...if you're on it, cool, if not...cool. There is hope for the scene, you just gotta believe and love the musik and community. If you're city bums you out, check out another. There still is a true RAVE scene. Many people love it, and it won't die. Peace. - JC

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2004

Im 26 now and its been 5 years since i've been to a party, Im glad to see that the flier party has gone the way of the dinosaur, 4,000 kids at harvey was fun when i was 18 but now it seems like it could and should never happen again. And as far as the raver is concerned the term raver and party kid is dead. Their are no parties anymore in the sense that an old party kid would remember, just the memories in our heads. If their is anything i miss its the companies like ripe and sense, source, ultraviolet, and boogie tribe at the end and some others who went out of their way to move to the wayside cookie cutter venues like the 66 and the dolton. ( Even though we are family was a great night for chicago). Sorry for taking up so much room on the space i just havent thought about parties in so long and i think its best that everyone else put them in the past as well. It was a good thing while it lasted but it was bound to burn out.

-- Anonymous, July 06, 2004

THERE ARE NO MORE PARTIES IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA ANYMORE, I HAVEN'T BEEN TO ANYTHING REMOTELY CLOSE TO A PARTY IN 4-5 YEARS, AND EVEN THOSE I WOULDN'T CONSIDER A PARTY, I STUMBLED ACROSS THIS SITE CURIOUS ABOUT THE SCENE NOW ADAYS.....IT'S BEEN A LONG ASS WHILE. MY ASSUMPTION WAS RIGHT, THEY'RE GONE IN CHICAGO, LONG GONE......HEY AT LEAST I'M OVER 21, RICHIE HAWTIN WAS AWESOME AT VISION ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO!!!!!

-- Anonymous, July 16, 2004

Hey. I've been looking for raves too. Crobar is the closest thing I can think of. Has anyone heard of anything good around. I miss raving. I feel like I have no outlet for my rave and glow-stick dancing. I produce progressive house, and haven't met anyone that does the same thing. Where do ravers live? I'm willing to move.

-- Anonymous, July 28, 2004

I am from south burbs of chicago~and i am lookin for some house parties or raves in chicago or near!~there hasnt been anything to go to lately.~Any ones coming up this weekend????

-- Anonymous, August 19, 2004

I grew up in chicago and my first party was in april of 93' (psychosis) with psychic tv, ritchie hawtin etc etc. I have watched the scene go through many ups and downs. It seems to me that what destroyed the scene was a lack of DIY small promoters. The big party crews who cared more about money, than the beauty of people coming together (whether high or not) and dancing in a full on and free way with each other; letting go of everything that came before or might be and just becoming the music. After I finished college in 2000 I moved to LA for work. There is still a magical underground out there. But the police are after it, just like they used to be when I lived in the Chi. It really is too bad we live in a country still run by the spawn of people soooo damn uptight and conservative that they got kicked out of europe. I have been on the road through central america, eastern and western europe, and all I can say is that the psytrance parties out there are really beautiful. There can be a scene here again. But it needs to be done right. No massive flyer events. You really do lose a lot in the club environment, but the vibe can most definitely still be there. And the focus needs to be the music and the coming together; the creation of family... not drugs. Peace and love go out to my old family

Im really intersted in some hot parties or raves in the next month or so. Ive never been to one, but am very intrested. Sophmore at columbia college and looking for some partying friends in the area, e-mail me if intrested.

-- Anonymous, September 21, 2004

Are you all mental? Their arent any raves. Clubs dont count. When is the last time someone went to a " rave" and im not talking about a loft party. i mean you have to call an info line and everything but its not a classified rave that has 3,000 kids and insane world class talent.

-- Anonymous, September 21, 2004

Destry, you fuckin asshole, how are ya. Yea man, I dunno about all this, but I do know one thing....I miss parties....I hate living in the real world 24/7. The mayor screwed it all up for everyone. I stopped going in 2000 when I realized where they were going here in Chicago. I havn't seen a rave flyer in years, even at clubs. I don't even really go clubbin' accept when my boy Will visits from NY. Where did it all go....the fun....the vibes....fuck, I don't even feel like a raver anymore, I can't even dance as good as I used to(product of no practice)! All I want is some damn rave pictures from back in the day, maybe 94-99...I can't even find a site...the only pictures I could find were on hulaballo.com of me, andrea, karen, and rob(snuggle bunny)! Let me know if you know any good sites for that!

It was a special corner of time that can never be reproduced. And to all you fake ass, wanna be raver drug addicts, it was you that destroyed the scene here in Chi. I dont think i would want to experiece what any party kids experienced in the 2000's. And if you want an ibiza type party and someone told you chicago in the winter was the place to be, i think they were playing a joke on you.

-- Anonymous, December 14, 2004

one of my friends is buying a warehouse just to throw parties in. no it wont be in the chicagoland area but how bad do you want to go to a ture underground party. in fact it will be like 4hrs from you. there isnt going to be some pheanom superstar but there will be one thick fucking vibe that i havent felt in years.

-- Anonymous, December 15, 2004

Wow, I had absolutely no idea that there were people out there still talking about this stuff, and looking for it. A few posts back, somebody said it pretty well. You just can't experience what we experienced before 2000. I was only a part of the scene for a fleeting moment, and it was amazing, but it seems to be completely dead now. I don't know of anything really going on around here. There was Wonka 3 about a month ago... did anybody go to that? I went to the first one, and enjoyed it a lot. I can't I'd like to hear about it anyway. It's really sad, you know? People eventually ruined a beautiful thing. I wish I could come up with a way to bring it back, but peoples' minds aren't in the right place. It would take an enormous amount of cooperation and stealth, and people are too bitter now. 'Eh.

Go to Clark & Belmont, The Alley or Secrets. As you walk in the door, they have flyers that tell about upcoming raves. Don't know if any are good, police have cracked down on 'em. Find one that takes you on a "scavenger hunt" to find the location, if there are any. Those are the only ones worth going to. Haven't been to a rave in years... Looking for one now myself... The good ones used to cost $50 to $75 to get in.

Getting into raves NOW is a lost cause. Psychosis was also my first rave in 93' and I heard Psychic TV lecture the week following. This party changed my life. Memories are all we have of the famous production crews, Ripe, Vibe Alive, ATP, Core Innovations, Organic, and Direct Drive. Remember those? Remember 3333 Grand or the Marble Factory. I loved warehouse parties and when they went to Dolton and Harvey we coped. But we also knew that all good things must come to an end. Don't look for what we had back in the day, you wont find it. But there are clubs still bringing in good talent and I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find a loft party. It's almost like those underground days before the big Warehouse raves and back again. I think one of my last parties was the Electric Highway Tour in the Grand Ballroom of Navy Pier. It was sponsored by GF Goodrich. But I will say, the money put into it made for a mind altering light and video show. Raving at it's pinnacle. I have to say that was my last revelation, last religious experience and last rave in Chicago.R.I.P.I love chi-town and junlge forever.Big ups.PLUR

I live in Dallas and let me tell you the rave scene is completly gone. Fuckin Bush ever since 911 has had his priorities all wrong, instead of homeland security its lets shut down head shops or stop raves that will help america. I went to my first rave in 1999 when i got out of high school and since then the last good rave i went to was in 2002. I will have to say the best raves are the ones that are outside, there is a place called Hockwood village near the raceway in Fort Worth,TX that is a shakespearian type setting back in the woods, signs pointing in all directions when you enter, the front is just like a castle i went there 2 years in a row and then boom before you know it its all gone. People still try to throw raves in dallas but they are in the city with streets blocked off or in an arena to be more like a concert. Tell me thats not stupid

I have been to a few parties in a gallery space on Knox off of Addison. This space was safe and did not get busted. It is only about 3000 square feet so it can only accommodate a one room event. However the last party I went to was bunk! The production company did not have turntables, they used c.d.'s. How lame is that? When I confronted one of the production crew he told me to get with the 21st century. The production company is called Psymbolical. Just a warning to stay away from sceen leaches. If any one wants to contact me for use of the space I can help facilitate.

Hey I have an idea everyone, im going to set up a map point at my apartment, leave 70 or 80 dollars under my door since thats what the Good parties cost to get in ( i guess since thats what someone said earlier, i remember the 5 dollar friday and 12-15 dollar sat with a can of food or clothes)and i will slip the directions to the armory where they threw the d day's at. And if you hold your ear really close to the ground you can still hear the last minutes of Ron D. Cores sets. Or your going to hear the sound of a base head about to cap you, either way its sure to be a fun time, and please no big bills!
