Vignetting for Wide Angle Prime lens and step up ring?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I have the 50mmF1.8, EF75-300, and I have decided to purchase a 100mmF2 and a wide angle prime. I am torn between the 35mmF2 and 28mmF2.8, both use 52mm filters. Since all my filters are 58mm thread, I was wondering whether if vignetting will occur to either the 28mm or 35mm, when using a 52-58mm step up with a Hoya Standard 58mm Polariser?

Vignetting won't occur as the filter is larger than the outer diameter of the barrel. I use a 58 mm polarizing filter on my EF 35 2.0 without any problems. I haven't tried it on the EF 28 2.8 but I bet it works fine. Of course, the lens hood won't fit.

The EF 35 2.0 is a really fine lens: sharp, fast and as flare free as it gets. For me, it is very easy to take pictures with this lens.

Thanks Puppy,

About the 28mm, has anyone tried this combo?
