105mm hood & filters

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

I have just managed to get a bayonet mount plastic hood for my 105mm lens. I originally had a 67mm UV on the lens, but I now find that I just cannot do this anymore if I add the hood. Does anyone out there know of filters (size, brands etc..) which screw into the hood itself?...or indeed can filter be use with the hood?

thanks Taki Charalambous

Taki,

I use the 90mm lens and 45mm. On both of these lenses I use the Pentax metal hoods (which are matched to the lens), they clip onto the filter thread of the lens. When using a UV filter, the hoods clip onto the filter thread of the UV filter and I don't have any problems with vignetting.

I haven't used the plastic bayonet versions but the metal type may offer an alternative.

Taki, Pentax makes, or has made in the past, filters that bayonet to the lens. On the front of the filter is a bayonet mount to receive your hood. They can be found used, and if your 105mm takes a 67mm size they are fairly common. On the front of bayonet mount filters is a screw thread for screwing in another filter if you need to stack them, but in that case the hood wouldn't fit. The bayonet mount system works very well.
